J.M. Harrison
Hello! So a little about me. I am an army combat veteran, wife and mother with an unhealthy obsession with hot chocolate and strawberries. When I am not writing, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking throughout the beautiful mountains of Colorado, weightlifting, video gaming, and reading an endless amount of books.
Being born a ginger, I think it is in my DNA to go against the grain, to travel my own path. I have done that for as long as I can remember. I am a very intense, competitive, passionate person with go big or go home attitude and energy. I am loud and direct, I talk way more than I should (it is my super villain power,) and known for saying the most random and off the wall things.
For my entire life stories have been an escape for me. Whether it be from the harshness of the real world, a chance to relax after a hard day, a way to forget heartache and pain, or just to pass the time— traveling through the pages of a good book, escaping into the lives of fictional characters, has always felt like home. Now I have the opportunity to provide that for others and I could not be more excited or honored. (Also a little terrified. Let’s be real. It’s a bit terrifying!)
Why did you choose to become an author?
Being an author isn’t what I do, it is who I am. I am a storyteller down to my core.
I have always loved to write.
Throughout my life I have written countless short stories. If I wasn’t writing a story on paper, I was writing one in my head. I dreamed of writing a book one day, of being a published author. Seeing my name on the cover of a book!
As an adult I let that dream go to the wayside, too busy… adulting. Still creating stories for my own entertainment but never perusing anything.
Until one night I woke up in a cold sweat and I just had to write. Once the flood gates had opened, there was no stopping it. The stories poured out of me. It was in that moment that I knew, this is who I am. I am a storyteller.
